Highland Whisky
This region has the one of the greatest diversities of styles. It is the largest whisky producing region in all of Scotland. The best distilleries of today find home in the Highlands. There are innumerous distilleries in the Highlands. Every distillery offers you a different taste and a unique tour around the distillery. A visit to any distillery is not just educative but is very memorable and fun. Clynelish Distillery, the Dalmore Distillery and the Glenmorangie Distillery are some of the fine distilleries that you will find in this region. In 2007 the Highlands held a whisky festival, their first ever. Four of Scotlands best distilleries came together over a weekend to celebrate the Highlands whisky heritage. Whisky remains the Spirit of Scotland even today and there is no other country that can make whiskey better than that produced in Scotland.
The Whisky
You get various kinds of whiskies in this region. The west highlands offer you a slightly dry drink with some peatness while the South and the East offer you the taste of fruits. The northern part of the highland has different geographical conditions which owes to a very different taste to the malts produced here. The spirit here is firm, gentle, crispy, dry and is a bit salty and has a slight floral taste as well.

Highland Park
This distillery was founded in the year 1798. It came to be known as Highland Park when its co-owners took over the distillery. This distillery has been renowned for its quality and flavor from the days of old. Today this distillery has 24 warehouses and 2 twin pagodas. It is one of the dominant features of Orkney. It is known to uphold great quality and this is attributed to it upholding its tradition, its high standards and its integrity in its manufacturing process.
Dalmore Distillery
The whiskies produced here are the most expensive whiskies in the world. Whiskies have been distilled here right from 1839. Dalmore distillery offers you a different taste. Its staff works hard towards maintaining the high quality of the whiskies produced here. Its great flavor and taste is attributed to the river Alness from which the distillery gets its water supplies. The distillery offers you a tour. You get to take a look at the distillery at close. It is a must do if you are visiting the Highlands of Scotland.
